"Jane and I can’t begin to say how happy we are with our new home – we’ve been meaning to send this note and kept getting overrun by events – holidays, vacations, decorating, unboxing, landscaping – everyday kinds of things. But its overdue, so, here goes…Once we had our architect, Melissa Hutchinson, we began our search for an outstanding builder. We saw the blue Chartier Builders signs outside a number of residences and constructions that we liked from afar. Then on Melissa’s recommendation and speaking with a number of fixture and systems providers, your company, and Rick in particular, always came up at or near the top of builders to speak to. We were really encouraged as everyone we came in contact with were extremely positive in their praise and attitude concerning Chartier…. Chartier Builders has garnered a reputation for quality, service and honesty.

At our first pre-construction meeting, we were impressed at how Rick took the time to explain how the house would be laid out at the job site, the materials he preferred to use (and why), the processes. He managed our expectations in how he explained the reality of the current environment - of possible covid-related delays, weather setbacks, supply issues, etc. He painted a very realistic picture – not trying to frighten but to make sure we fully appreciated the undertaking. From the very start of the building process through closing and the punch list, it’s been a pleasure working with you, Rick, and your outstanding team. And a terrific “team” it is. Over the years you’ve been in business you’ve assembled a fantastic group of craftsmen, trades people and subcontracting partners that share your vision for quality, aesthetics and customer first. From working with Melissa in the design and flow details, to our first Rick meeting at the pre-construction to watching and talking with many of the artisans and laborers you had working on our project, they were all in lockstep with how Rick “does business”. Its critical that that communication happens between builder and home owner in soothing the inevitable moments of stress. A thousand decisions, large and small, get made along the way and not all are perfect. Its that communication that helped us get through some of those – whether it was the worst rainy season in 20 years, or the decision of a key contractor to call it a career or to finding out that code says the height of an area was not quite right. Rick provided the calming required, the options available and the recommendations on how to move forward. We often asked him questions – some complex, some not so much – and he always either had the answers at his fingertips or went and got the answers! He was always available to chat – either right then when we called or if he wasn’t able to talk, he got back shortly after…I particularly appreciated it when I got an almost immediate response from Rick to the my 3:00 AM epiphany texts and emails – thanks Rick! Rick was always open and understanding; and that shown through when we spoke to his “guys”. We’d bounce ideas off Mike, Pierre or Rich and always felt they were eager to be responsive and get things done right so we’d be happy with the results.
